Lunch at Heeswijk Castle

Do you have something tocelebrate at a unique venue? Then Bij de Barones is the perfect place for you. We’ll reserve a beautiful room with authentic details for you, where we’ll serve our Zoet & Zaligheden.

I'm sure you know who I am

Still, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself to you.

My name is Albertine Renira Alexandra van Heeckeren van Kell. I was born in London in 1899, and my marriage to Baron Willem van den Bogaerde brought me to Heeswijk in 1940. A good match, but make no mistake, I myself was of no mean lineage either. It was not for nothing that I was chosen as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Wilhelmina and a bridesmaid to Princess Juliana. Did you know that she herself has visited the castle on occasion?

My husband, Baron Willem van den Bogaerde, was the last owner of Heeswijk Castle. However, due to issues surrounding an inheritance, we were unable to move into the castle and instead lived here, in the coach house. It’s a comfortable home, as you can see.

I’ve always enjoyed getting involved in local initiatives and organizations. I’ve also felt it was my duty to restore Heeswijk Castle to its former glory as much as possible and to preserve the monument and its collection for future generations. Please feel free to come take a look sometime. But first and foremost, enjoy the delicacies!
