After your visit to the castle, walk or cycle trip, it is lovely to stay in the Koetshuis Bij de Barones.
At the Baroness you can enjoy a healthy lunch of castle-made dishes. Choose from luxurious sandwiches, crispy salads, surprising sandwiches and castle-made soups. Little knights and princesses have also been thought of.
"At the Baroness" is open Tuesday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

You probably know who I am
Still, I would like to introduce myself to you.
Albertine Renira Alexandra van Heeckeren van Kell is the name. I was born in London in 1899, and my marriage to Baron Willem van den Bogaerde brought me to Heeswijk in 1940. A good match, but make no mistake, I myself was not of the least descent. It was not without reason that I was chosen as Queen Wilhelmina's maid of honour and bridesmaid of Princess Juliana. Did you know that she herself paid a visit to the castle?
My husband, Baron Willem van den Bogaerde, was the last owner of Heeswijk castle. However, due to inheritance problems we could not move into the castle, but lived here, in the coach house. Also a comfortable accommodation, as you can see.
I have always liked being involved in local initiatives and associations. I also felt it was one of my tasks to restore Heeswijk Castle to its former glory as much as possible, and to safeguard the monument and the collection for the future. Please come and take a look. But first enjoy the bliss!
